You guys are right — I am in Hawaii!!!
It is so warm and pretty — I am having a wonderful time. {Although we did have to sit through a 2 hour high-pressure timeshare spiel today}. Yesterday we even drove up to The North Shore — which is supposed to be the most famous surfing place in the world. We watched the surfers and the ginormous waves as the sun set. It was breathtaking!!!
So today I am asking : Which Island do you think I am on?

I knew it! Oahu! I second the Mauna Loa toffee and chocolate covered Macadamia nuts! The toffee is the key. You can't find them on the main land anywhere! I wish I would have brought home 10 bags!

Haleiwa and the North Shore are in Oahu! We got to stay on that side of the island with my Bro-in-law and his wife a few years ago. It is beautiful! Have you had any acai bowls? Or stopped at a shrimp truck? Fun memories! I hope you are enjoying every minute!

I hope you went to Matsumotos for Hawaiian shaved ice while you were on the North shore. Did you visit the Polynesian Cultural Center and see the night show there? How about the swap meet at the Aloha Stadium. You can always pick up inexpensive gifts to bring home from there.Did you snorkel in Hanauma Bay, see the blow hole, hike Diamond Head, or hike any of the other fun trails on the island? How about visiting the temple or the visitor's center there? OK, maybe you decided just to relax and enjoy…that's good too.I lived in Laia for 3 years and miss my friends and the laid-back lifestyle. My kids miss it too.

Definitely Oahu! I lived there long enough to know. You should def stop by the PCC for the greatest Polynesian experience & Matsumoto's for the BEST shaved ice you can possibly imagine. I am soooo jealous of you!!!

I just returned from the North Shore today. If you are a fan of Lost, you should check out Papiloa beach (down the road from that Haleiwa sign) and see the survivor's beach—all the props are there but roped off, as well as the plane. Stop by Ted's bakery (near Sunset Beach) too—they have great treats, plus I got to meet Terry O'Quinn/Locke there this morning.ps–I love your blog. Thanks for sharing all the great ideas.

Oahu! You have to be on Oahu! When I was a little girl, my older sister had a teaching position at BYU Hawaii. My parents took me to see her when I was 11 years old. What an awesome family vacation! We had so much fun. I'll never forget going to the Polynesian Cultural Center, playing on the temple grounds while my parents were inside (I found the most enormous snails), and how good the warm waves felt on the beach. Some of my sister's students did a luau for us, which was really special. I've always wanted to go back!I hope you have just as much fun as I did!

You're on Oahu! I used to live on the North Shore 🙂 You should get a shave ice at the General Store in Haleiwa. Ask for "da works" and get coconut macadamia nut ice cream on the bottom, don't be afraid of the sweet cream, it's delish! My favorite flavor is Li Hing Mui. Enjoy your time there 🙂

Oahu. If you are still near Haleiwa they have the best pizza parlor ever there. It is right off the main hwy that goes through town. Probably the only pizza parlor.

U R on Oahu! Make sure you stop by the famous Matsumoto's store for their famous ice cones (we call them "shaved ice" here in Hawaii). You won't regret it, plus, the have neat souvenirs!

We have friends with a home on the North Shore and the waves can be incredibly high, especially in the late fall.I hope you are enjoying a fabulous time, enjoying the sweet fragrance of the flowers and taking in the relaxation and sounds of the waves and beautiful music. I know where your at…OAHU!!!!I live here in Oahu…Did you get some shaved ice at Motsimoto's??Best on the island..Did you go to the Dole plantation? Skip the tour because the plantation is for tourist shopping(Better deals at the stadium)and do the maze..Thats alot of fun..You need to at least hike Diamond Head..And go to Laie(on the H-3)..The temple is there..Closed for renovations but you and the hubbster could go to the Polynesian Culture Center..DO NOT MISS IT!!!And you have to do the luau..MUCH better than any of the others..Have a blast!!Hope you can see alot of the islands..At least learn to surf,play ukelele,hula and make a lei..Aloha!!!
