My friend Natasha from Samster Mommy contacted me and told me about a wonderful event — Tutu Drive 2010 — she is sponsoring for The Princess Alexa Foundation
This foundation is amazing —They take dress up clothes and match them with kids who are seriously ill so they can have a bit of fun and make-believe. A little something to put a smile on their faces during such a hard time. Isn’t that sweet – and a wonderful idea!!!
The foundation was started by a mom named Crys in honor of her daughter Alexa…

Guest Project: Rustic Garden Fourth of July Flag Tutorial

25 Jun

Hello Tatertots and Jello Readers! I am so excited (and a little bit nervous) to be here today posting on Jen’s blog! She is fantastic and I am thrilled to be here!

My name is Amanda and I am the creative mind behind “Every Crafty Endeavor.” I am married to a dashingly handsome, hard-working man named Spencer and we have a little boy named Quinn and are expecting our first little girl in November. I work part time as a writer on a marketing team for an Engineering Company and craft in my “spare time.” I have been a “mommy blogger” for a couple years – and started Every Crafty Endeavor to showcase some crafty ideas that I have made.
Sometimes I come up with ideas on my own and sometimes I see ideas that I love and copy – always giving credit of course! That is what I love about blogging – everyone shares ideas and our homes and babies and lives are much cuter! I love to craft and cook and I have lots of fun ideas and tutorials that I love to share. I am constantly thinking about things to cook, make or sew, accessories that pop, ways to decorate my home and things to photograph.
Since the Fourth of July is right around the corner I thought it would be fun to do a tutorial on a Rustic Fourth of July flag that I made for my garden.
First: I went to Home Depot and loaded up my car with 4 lengths of Cedar fencing. I cut them to be 3 feet long, so I ended up with 5 lengths and then I cut two more pieces just long enough to stretch across the backside so I could nail them together.
Second: I painted all of the boards white.
Third: I used the Cricut and cut out a few primitive stars with some extra vinyl and secured them to where I wanted them on my flag. Then I painted over them with blue. You can see in the picture that I cut them in half so I could pull the boards apart.
Fourth: I painted on my stripes. I wanted this to look really rustic so I sponged my red paint on however I felt like it. I tried to get them a little bit straight but I didn’t want straight lines.
Fifth: After it was all dry, I pulled the vinyl stars off and flipped it over. I nailed the shorter boards to the back so the whole thing was one big flag.
Sixth: I took it out to my front yard garden, set it up and am now enjoying it.
You can see that the stars are a tiny bit off and the ends aren’t lined up just right –
I wanted it that way! I want it to look a little weathered and now I can’t wait for my flowers to bloom a little bit more around it. Here in Utah we have two Red, White and Blue holidays so I get to have my flag up all month long!
Please come by sometime and say hello! I love to make new friends!

Thanks for coming over today Amanda! Such a fun project. Here’s button for sharing your tutorial with us!
Be sure to check out Amanda’s blog for other great projects like:

And, I am sharing a little 20-minute Project to spice up a plain t-shirt over at Every Crafty Endeavor if you want to check it out!

Adorable Baby Gift {using the Silhouette Craft Cutter}

25 Jun
Do you want to make an adorable, custom baby gift? I am addicted to making fabric projects with my Silhouette. They have this medium called Heat Transfer sheets that are so cool! It come in all sorts of colors and you cut out images with the Silhouette and then iron the images on to clothing. And it comes out so smooth. Every. Single. Time!!
https://importtestsite.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/heat-transfer-material.jpg?w=249
My sweet neighbor/friend had a baby boy a week ago and I wanted to make something cute for him. I knew that her kids love dinosaurs so I found some images in the Silhouette Library — all three dinosaurs for $1. I downloaded the images into my library. Then I added some text and inserted the Heat Transfer material. Easy peasy. **Note – be sure to mirror your image before you cut it out!!
The Heat Transfer material has a shiny side that is sticky once you peel the negative space off. Then I flipped it over onto the onesie and ironed the image on to the little shirt. Once the transfer cooled, I peeled the shiny clear coat off and there was the decal — perfect! Each onesie took about 10 minutes to make!
And I just discovered that there is PRINTABLE Heat Transfer material. So you create your image using the Silhouette software on your computer, then Silhouette records the dimensions, you print it on the printable heat transfer material using your color printer, then insert the sheet into your Silhouette and it knows exactly where to cut it. And you iron it on! I need to get some of those PRINTABLE sheets!

Ohhhh – the possibilities! I am learning something new and wonderful every single day!
Come enter to win a Silhouette of your own! A {$325 value} — click HERE to enter!
Another Silhouette craft coming up soon!
XOXO

Guest Project: Fluffy Ruffly Tote Tutorial

24 Jun
tote Hello Tatertots and Jello Readers! First off, can you see me hyperventilating over here? Anyone have a paper sack I can borrow? This is my first guest post, and it’s at Jen’s place. Jen’s place! I talk about her so much that I now refer to her blog as T & J. Isn’t that some kind of lock jaw disorder? Oh wait, that’s TMJ. See how distracted I get? Okay, pullin’ it together. Let me take a quick sec to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Erin, and I blog over at Frundy.

dsc_0207_facebook1
You’ll often find me rambling about my two adorable little boys, dreamy coastal inspired homes, my faith, and ongoing crafts and sewing projects.
Today I’ll be showing you how to make this fluffy ruffly tote.
tote
Let’s get on to the tutorial, shall we?
You will need:
1
and some cotton fabric of your choice, cut into strips. I made my strips extra long, just so I could ruffle as I pleased. I would hate to run out of fabric mid-ruffle. That would definitely throw me into an emotional chocolate devouring fit, and trust me, my kids don’t need to see me like that.
2b
Hem the bottom of all strips. The top strip should be hemmed on the top and bottom. The top of the remaining ruffles are hidden under the ruffle above it, so I just left those raw, but you could definitely finish those off as well. In the future, I will probably finish the tops, because it does create loose threads to cut.
3
I chose to baste the top ruffle for a more uniform look. Once you pin and sew it onto the bag, remember to pull out those basted stitches.
4
The remaining ruffles were manually created. I tried to get a picture of this, but it didn’t really do it justice. Basically, you will just pleat your fabric as you sew. It’s sew simple. I know, bad joke. Can we still be friends?
Anyhoo, when you get around to where you started your ruffle, overlap your fabric, and sew up that side seam. I did fold and iron the piece that I knew would be overlapped before I started the ruffle. Does that make any sense? I didn’t think so.
5
Continue to layer up those ruffles. And, be prepared to swoon as you finish each ruffle.
ruffles2
As for the rosette, I took approximately a 3 foot strip of fabric, folded it in half, and rolled it up until I had the desired effect. I occasionally ran my needle and thread through it to secure it.
There you have it, ladies! If you make one of these bad boys, please stop on by and show me your take on it. And, if you don’t have the time to ruffle yourself crazy, I have one of these in my shop.
Later Taters! There, I’ve done it again. Honestly, I’m not always this cheesy. I think the pressure of being at Jen’s is causing me to act up. Ya know, it’s that insecurity thing.
For reals, please stop by Frundy and say hi or just tell me how corny I am. Whatevs, I’ll love ya forever!

Thanks you Erin for such a great tutorial. Here’s a button! I LOVE that tote. So cute! You really should stop by Frundy and see all of the cute things going on in Erin’s world

Guest Project: Anthro-inspired Wreath & Giveaway

23 Jun
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_imXc3E_znJg/S_NQ0828xVI/AAAAAAAABEw/lsJCfES8eWY/s1600/IMG_6695.JPG

I’d like to introduce you to my guest crafter today — Tia @ Two Junk Chix. Tia is such a fun and bubbly girl. And so creative! She has done a couple giveaways here for some of her gorgeous Crimson Clover jewelry. This is one of her newest creations that I am obsessed with:

Today she is sharing a fabulous project and a giveaway! Take it away Tia!

Anthro Style Wreath

Craft night with the girls resulted in these adorable wreaths inspired by my all time favorite store….ANTHROPOLOGIE. They were so fun to make but more importantly, they were so easy! I just love projects that give you instant gratification!
Up close and personal with some of the details…
For mine, I decided to stick with a more neutral palette with touches of lime green, yellow, and robins egg blue.

We started out with these straw wreaths. You could use the styrofoam ones but we wanted ours to be really big and these were the perfect size. We gathered pearl pins, burlap, cloth flowers, vintage sheet music, ribbon and anything else we felt inspired by.

Vicki cut our strips of burlap for us. We needed 2 strips per wreath.

Once we got all of our burlap strips cut, Vick and I wrapped the burlap around the wreaths to cover up the straw.

We decided to leave the plastic packaging around the wreath so the straw wouldn’t poke through the burlap. Using a straight pin, the burlap is held in place. And now the fun begins!

Here is my dear friend, Deanne embellishing her wreath with my daughter, Paige. Even a 5 year old can do this! So much fun!!

Using pearl pins and hot glue, we just kept adding yummy treasures to our wreath. Here is a rosette using white and natural coffee filters and topped off with a big pearl.

All 3 of our wreaths turned out very differently but all were quite fabulous! Here is what mine looks like hanging on my door…

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_imXc3E_znJg/S_NQ0828xVI/AAAAAAAABEw/lsJCfES8eWY/s1600/IMG_6695.JPG
Hope you have enjoyed our Anthro Style Wreath!!
Thank you so much, Jen! It is always a pleasure to work with you.
I’m so excited to give away another original Crimson Clover design. Crimson Clover is unique handmade jewelry that is vintage and vintage inspired with a hip and modern feel…and sometimes a little edgy. I’m a stay at home mother of 5 who loves to create and everything that I design, make and carry is made here in the fabulous USA!

COME OVER TO MY BLOG —  TWO JUNK CHIX TO WIN THIS ONE-OF-A-KIND NECKLACE:
