Holiday Meme Party — Come join in to win a Mint Cleaner Robotic Floor Cleaner!

27 Nov
Happy Friday!!

With Thanksgiving Week and everyone being so busy, there will be no Weekend Wrap Up Party this weekend. Instead, Beckie from Infarrantly Creative and I thought it might be fun to host a Holiday Meme Party!

Never been part of a blog hop? Neither have we! But we thought it would be a fun way to host a giveaway. Instead of doing a massive commenting giveaway (although we like those too 😉 we decided that we want to give one lucky blog hop participant one of our FAVORITE THINGS!

The Mint Cleaner just launched this year and it is a machine with a GPS system that cleans your hard floor surfaces.  You put a Swiffer type pad on it, press a button and watch it clean your floor.  We can’t tell you how much we love it!  It’s seriously my favorite gadget — I use it almost every day!!! I made a little video I made to explain why you’ll love it what it does — you can view it HERE if you want 🙂

The Mint Cleaner is available at the following places:

Amazon
HSN
Frontgate
Bed Bath & Beyond

WHO WANTS A MINT CLEANER!?!?

{winner will be announced on Cyber Monday}

Here’s the rules.
1.  On your blog, write a post on one of the following topics.

* Are you more of a Black Friday or Cyber Monday girl?  Tell us about your best deal or your craziest shopping story.

* What is one holiday tradition that you treasure that you hope to pass down to your children?

* How do you keep your home clean and holiday ready during this chaotic season?  What is your biggest holiday cleaning challenge?

* What is on your must have Christmas list? (besides The Mint Cleaner of course!)

2.  Grab this code and type it in the bottom of that post.

Guest Project — Great Gift Idea — Make an Adorable Fabric Purse!

26 Nov

Hello Tatertots and Jello Readers!
I’m Brandy from Cappuccino and Cobwebs.
I am so thrilled that I get to share a project with you.  I’ve periodically dabbled in sewing but I just don’t do great in following those directions on Patterns – it’s almost like a foreign language to me!  This project is perfect to add an accessory to your seasonal wardrobe or to give as a gift! Any two fabrics coordinating fabrics will work, this isn’t exclusive for Christmas.

The cuts of fabric needed are:
  • 2 pieces of 2″ x 18″ outer fabric (peppermint) – Purse Straps
  • 2 pieces of 6″ x 16″ outer fabric for the – Purse Outer Base
  • 4 pieces of 2″ x 11″ inner fabric (Ho!Ho!Ho!) – Purse Trim
  • 2 pieces of 5″ x 10″ inner fabric with angled bottom edge – Purse Inner Base
  • 1 piece of 4″x 8″ inner fabric – Purse Inner Pocket

Let’s start sewing!
First step, take the 4″x8″inch piece stitch a 1/4 in seam around the edge, this will be used to make the Inner Pocket.
Next take one piece of the 5″x10″, center the finished Inner Pocket piece, pin it, and sew it; leaving the top open for the pocket entrance (the bottom of the 5″x10″ is the angled corners).  Then stitch a vertical line on the middle of the pocket piece; this will make two 3 3/4″ pockets.
Place the two 5″x10″ pieces right facing now, and sew a 1/4 inch seam around the edge; leaving the flat 10″ piece open for the top of the purse.
Now, for the Outside Base.  On each 6″x16″ make pleats running the 6″inch length of the material.  I like to start in the middle and work my way out on each side. Putting pleats in so that I get this 16″ length down to 10″inches to match the Inner Base.  Just fold and pin as you go (there’s room to move these around how you want here)  I ended up with 5 pleats on each.
Next, stitch the pleats in place on the Outer Base.  (We’re doing this to tack down the pleats.)
Then place the pleated pieces right side together, place the Inner Base on top those two.  Evenly line up the top and side edges, pin in place.  Then, stitch around the perimeter of the purse, except for the purse top/opening.
Trim the excess material and then turn the purse right side out.
The Trim pieces are the next step.   Take two of the 2″x11″, place right side together and sew a 1/4″ seam.  Then put a 1/4″ seam on the opposite open ends, (top and bottom).  Complete the other two 2″x11″ in the same way.  Then, I stitch the the 2 finished pieces together, so that I have trim that will fit the Inner and Outer Purse Base.
Place the Trim piece on the perimeter of the purse opening.  Fold it to place evenly over the Inner and Outer Base pieces.  Then stitch directly over the bottom seam line around the whole perimeter of the purse.
Homestretch, lets do the straps!  Place the two 2″x18″ right side together, and stitch a 1/4″ seam on both sides of the 18″ length.  Then turn the stitched piece to be right side out.
Once the straps are right side out, stitch a 1/4″ seam on the 18″ sides and on each end.  Then, place the strap onto the outside of the purse.  Pin in place, and stitch a [] square, and then an X in the middle to attach the strap.
Last step, stitch a zipper onto the top side of the purse, or use a button on snap, whatever your hearts desire!
Thanks for letting me share this tutorial with you.  Merry Christmas!

What a cute bag!!

Thanks for sharing the tutorial Brandy.
A bag like this would make a great Christmas or birthday gift!!

Pier1 Holiday Decorating!

26 Nov
This post brought to you by Pier 1 Imports. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love this time of the year!
Parties. Decorating. Being with family.
I don’t know about you, but my Holiday Decorations needed a little freshening up. So I headed over to Pier1 — it’s been awhile since I had been over there. There are so many wonderful items at Pier1 to add some sparkle to your holiday decorations!
How cute would a Woodland Theme be this year?

This Peace Wreath makes me smile.
A White Feather Tree would be a fun addition this year. I love the idea of a black and white tree. It would look great with silhoutte ornaments.
There are so many great table setting ideas for holiday entertaining at Pier 1. I love the idea of using runners instead of placemats!
And if you are planning on throwing a holiday party  this year, you can use these appetizer plates and holiday entertaining pieces from the Tasting Collection!
I picked out some beautiful Mercury Glass Candle Holders.
I love the classic beauty these will bring to my Holiday decorations.
I created a fun little corner with my new Mercury Candle Holders.
So pretty!

I also found something that is at the top of my wish list — a Quatrefoil Mirror!!! LOVE!

I also saw all kinds of great items on sale and on clearance.
There were some great holiday entertaining deals — and you know how much I love deals!!
And during the month of November ,  Pier 1 is supporting Toys for Tots which is an awesome organization. Be sure to “like”  Pier 1 on  facebook — they will be donating a $1.00 to Toys for Tots, for every “like” they receive!! Such an easy way to help out!!! Head over and do that, will you??

I also made a little video of me with some of my favorite finds at Pier 1 — if you want to take a look. There were so many awesome things to see — I had a wonderful time exploring the store!
Thanks for letting me stop by, Pier1!!
