Halloween Chevron Wreath {tutorial}!!

8 Sep

{{Happy Halloween}}
lol – I know it’s a little early but I just can’t help myself!
I think I’ve ordered every chevron color that is in existence.
Yes, I
may have a problem.

But I thought — how cute would it be to make a
Halloween wreath out of THREE of my favorite things — CHEVRON, BAKERS
TWINE
and GLITTER???

So that’s what I did. And let me tell you — this is a fast and easy project. And the end result is a whimsical tribute to one of my favorite holidays!!

Here’s how to make one:

 1. Supplies — Wreath Form. Fabric cut into 3 inch wide strip, black cardstock, bakers twine, black glitter and coordinating fabric to hang the wreath.
2. Wrap the wreath form with the chevron fabric.
3. Hot glue bakers twine onto the wreath. I get my baker’s twine from Twisted Sugar Twine. Pull the twine tight.
4. Cut out bats. I made mine with my Silhouette. But you could punch them out with a punch too.
5. Glitter the bats. I Mod Podged them and then sprinkled the glitter over the top.
6. Hot glue the bats to the twine.
7.Hang the wreath with some ribbon, or I hung mine with a couple strips of black and white chevron.
8. Hang up the wreath. I used 3M Command Hooks. That way if I want to take it down later, there is no hole or damage to my Aqua Pantry Door!

So tell me — have you started making Halloween projects? What are YOU making?? I would love to know. I made ANOTHER Halloween Wreath today — with materials all from the Dollar Store. I’ll be sharing that one next week 🙂 It’s kind of a Gothic/Glam Halloween Wreath!

xoxo

And speaking of Halloween — have you seen the Haunted Mirrors floating around blogland?? I made one the other day and it inspired me to make a Spooky Mirror round up over at Babble. Check them out – they are SUPER spooky and fun!!

"Summer Social" Guest Project — Make Friendship Bracelet Kits {with free printable}

17 Aug
Jennifer, Jamie and Jodie here from the blog eighteen25!!
eighteen25
We are so happy Jen invited us to participate in her Summer Social event.
We have a fun project to share with you today and it would also make a really cute gift for all the girlies in your life.

friendship bracelet kits

back in june, we took a trip to the craft store to pick up the stuff for friendship bracelet kits and since then, the girls have spent several hours making colorful knotted bracelets for everyone they know.

to make a kit to keep or give as a gift, you’ll need:

  • a DMC craft organizer (ours came with plastic floss bobbins)
  • a pack or two of embroidery floss
  • a small clipboard (6×9)
  • large elastic (to wrap around the box)
  • tag download

we covered our clipboard with some patterned paper and the friendship bracelet kit tag.

and in case you were wondering what the clipboards were for…
they hold your thread while your knotting.

so whether you have a little time left before school starts or you’ve already sent the kids back…

get your kids hooked on making these and they can give friendship bracelets to all their new school friends!!
 {if you’re new to making friendship bracelets… this website will help get you started.}

Thanks girls — what a fun idea!!
If you don’t know the girls at eighteen25, head over there ASAP.
Their site is full of deliciousness, like:
Back to School Party — and printable.
And speaking of printables, eighteen25 has tons of amazing printables. Like this Birthday Subway Art.
And great craft ideas like this Birthday Box.
And they love Halloween as much as I do!! Stay tuned for their Halloween Spooktacular Series — full of fabulous spooky ideas. I’m so excited to participate again this year!!

We’re bringing Home Ec Back!!

3 Aug
You probably know Babble.com — a really awesome community for women and moms dedicated to sharing great information.

Babble just launched a new blog that is dedicated to all things creative — Home Ec… And I am so excited to be writing for their blog because it helps me do the thing I like to do best. What’s that? What I love most about blogging is sharing projects and spotlighting other people. I can’t wait to start sharing all of the creativity that I see everyday from all of you.

I love that a new generation of creative people are coming up who enjoy creating projects to make their lives and homes more beautiful. And I think it’s so cool that our generation is taking our mom’s version of Home Ec and putting our own spin on it. We are bringing Home Ec back!! (We might even be putting the “sexy” in it — ha!)

Amy Anderson — Mod Podge Rocks
Natalie Holbrook – Nat the Fat Rat
Ashley Hackshaw – Lil Blue Boo
Amy Suardi – Frugal Mama
Marie LeBaron – Make and Takes
