Crown Swap — I feel like a Princess!

1 Aug
A few weeks ago I signed up to participate in a really fun crown swap hosted by my friend, the sweet and talented Molly @ Fleur De Bee
And right before I left on my trip a big, beautiful package arrived!!
I opened the package up and was amazed at the beautiful goodies inside. My partner — Christine @ A Work In Progress sent me the most amazing treasures. Look at this crown — it is beyond beautiful and she made it herself! Wow – I still cannot believe it.   The inside is BURLAP and look at the craftmanship. It has this gorgeous brooch on the front and the bottom of the crown is metal and it looks like she welded to attain the correct shape. Plus sparkles and jewels on the bottom.
It is stunning.
And it came in a beautiful decoupaged box with a tassel on top. Then I discovered this beautiful necklace in an amazing crown jewelry box. I love the colors and it has a crown inside the pendant. SO pretty!
And this colorful bucket with the cutest vinyl crown, plus a beautiful jewel and a crown purse hanger!
And that’s not all. There was also this little white cloth crown sack and inside were crown cookie cutters, sprinkles and frosting — perfect for those cookie tiaras that the girls and I can make!
Thank you so much Christine for all of these wonderful goodies.
I am so amazed and thrilled and in awe.
Thank you Molly for putting the swap together!
It was great fun getting to know Christine!
She is amazingly talented!!!
XOXO

A litte project, a big winner, a room redo and a birthday girl!

7 Dec
Here’s a project that is floating around the blogosphere right now.

I made this one up for our “Super Saturday” class last month. The kids love changing the date on the blocks every day. You can order a kit a few places, one I found is here. Or, if you are super skilled, you can make your own blocks. Also, countdown blocks would be great for most holidays and other events like birthdays or vacations. I may have to make another set that I can keep out all year long. I love this one:
I’m linking this up to Xazmin’s Mod Podge Mania and
Heidi’s Monthly Craft Challenge! Go over and see the fun projects!
And, the winner of The Pleated Poppy Giveaway is:  The Popes! Congratulations! And thanks to everyone for entering! Thanks to Lindsey for the great giveaway!!! And speaking of giveaways — I will be hosting a really exciting Christmas one tomorrow!
And I was able to take a break from the room re-do to meet one of my favorite bloggers yesterday! Connie from The Young and the Relentless. She is just adorable!!!
It’s Ella’s birthday and we got the “Pink & Chinese” room pretty much finished — woo hoo! {Let me tell you I wasn’t so sure it was going to be done last night at 1 AM.} She was so excited! I will post pictures tomorrow night! Happy birthday to my sweet sweet little girl.
 Thanks for stopping by!

Simple Woman’s Daybook for August 10, 2009

10 Aug

For Today — August 10, 2009…

  • Outside my window… It is dark. We have had some rainy weather. On Wednesday night a group of women from our neighborhood went up the canyon for a cookout and hike. As we were going up, a huge thunderstorm came in. It stopped after awhile, so we were able to have a nice dinner and s’mores. Hannah came along and loved the hot cocoa.
  • I am thinking… About Susan. Her funeral is today.
  • I am thankful for… My kids. The two oldest were at sleep-away camps last week. When we went to pick up my son we were able to see their dance performances. At the end he took his 4 year old sister and danced the waltz with her. I thought that was so sweet.
  • From the kitchen… tonight I made one of my favorites — Pioneer Woman’s Smashed Potatoes. I used potatoes, rosemary and thyme from the garden. And a little bit of bacon on top. Yum!
  • I am wearing… A sweater and capris. It still hasn’t warmed back up completely. When we were eating outside the weather was perfect.
  • I am creating… I have been making more of my resin pendants. I used some vintage buttons on these. Here is a picture before I poured the resin.
  • I am going… To the funeral and then I am going to work on some PTA things for the new school year.
  • I am reading… I am almost to the end of my British family saga book. Does anyone have any good suggestions?
  • I am hoping… To have a good week this week. My son’s friend Phoebe is here visiting. So we are going to take her around to some hot spots: the planetarium, dinosaur museum, downtown and mini golfing.
  • I am hearing… The sound of a movie coming from the basement where the teenagers have taken over the big television. My little ones are sleeping.
  • Around the house… I am finishing up my garage renovation. It has taken many hours of hard work, but has been worth it. I love going out there now.
  • One of my favorite things: Are my blogging friends. Thank you so much for coming by for my blogoversary. You guys really lift my spirits. I don’t know what I would do without you!
  • A few plans for the rest of the week: Doing my trail and spending time with the kids – we only have 2 weeks of Summer left *sigh*
  • Here is picture thought I am sharing…Mom and I tooling around the neighborhood a few hours ago this bike! It was the first time in 30 years that she had been on a bike. Can you believe that??
Go over to the Simple Woman to join in the fun.
Have a Delightful Day
XOXO
