Homemade Gift Ideas party with a beautiful giveaway!

14 Dec
It’s the first day of the Holly Bloggy Christmas Bash from Simply Sweet Home. I am excited to host  — we are sharing homemade gift ideas. There is something special about a gift that is homemade.
You probably know that I love working with burlap. So I thought it would be fun to make some embellished burlap bags to give homemade treats to my family and friends. I made some different sizes and styles, to fit different treats.
 I made a small, skinny one for baguettes with homemade pesto
or homemade jam — the jam or pesto fits at the bottom of the bag.
 These brownies fit right inside a square burlap bags
with a trees sewn on the front.
 And a little burlap purse holds fresh tangerines and a candy cane. It can be hung on a neighbor’s doorknob.
Another homemade treat that is great for neighbors or teachers are dry mixes in glass containers.
 I made some spiced hot chocolate. I love the way the layers look together. I put some miniature candy canes in for color.
 Here is the recipe: {My jars are quart size which is 16 ounces}
One layer of 2/3 cup confectioner sugar
One layer of 2/3 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
One layer of 2/3 teaspoon vanilla powder {found at baking supply stores}
One layer of 1/3 teaspoon cardamom
One layer of mini candy canes
Directions to put with the jars: Sift the cocoa mix into a large mixing bowl. For each serving, stir 1/4 cup mix into 1 cup hot milk.
One layer of 2/3 cup confectioner sugar
And I made these labels that can go on top. They are perfect for a 2 5/16 scallop punch. I have the free printable HERE if you would like to customize and use them.
 I also made a little ornament with the family initial that I put on the top of the package. I made it out of sheet metal and glittered up the edges for a little sparkle.
Now, for the giveaway! Pam from PK Home Designs has a wonderful etsy shop where she makes the most wonderful pillows and other home decorations.

She is giving away this wonderful french burlap pillow:

A little Christmas, two winners and a linky party!

11 Dec

I had a big church party over at my house the other night. It was good because it made me clean the house {which needed it, believe me}, and get most of my Christmas out. And I was so excited to put this new cake stand out on my kitchen table. I found her a couple of months ago at TJ Maxx — I think she was $16. I just love how funny and whimsical she looks. She reminds me of making Christmas cookies with my mom when I was a child. We would spend hours making the most delicious cookies. Chicky Momma is having a really fun Christmas Memories Party and is giving away a Letters to Santa pillow. Go over and join in the festivities!
And, these cute candy cane plates I found at Target this year. Perfect for Christmas pie or rice pudding that I make as part of our Christmas Eve traditions!

I am planning on linking up to The Nester’s Christmas Home Tour on Monday, December 14th, but I am also hosting a fun linky party with Simply Sweet Home on that day. And there will be giveaways!

I will be sharing some ideas for homemade gifts. Will you come over for the party? And share something that you’ve made, or share something that someone made for you! I think it will be very fun and give us all some ideas for meaningful homemade gifts! So be thinking of something that you can share and come back for the party – I promise it will be fun! December 14th.

And now for the winner of the custom card designs!!!
HG from Growing Pains and Spaghetti-o Stains — isn’t that the cutest blog name??  And Andrea from Look Both Ways! Congratulations ladies — you won a custom card design from Dimple Prints!!!
Have a wonderful day!
XOXO
