Keeping It Real — I’m Looking for a Virtual Assistant!!

23 Aug

It’s my three year blogoversary!!
I started Tatertots and Jello as a personal blog, as a place to keep my creative projects. And it has grown into something that I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams. I am loving this blogging world and the opportunities that TT&J has brought to me. I love creating project and promoting other people.
The administrative side of TT&J has grown so demanding and I am so behind on emails. I’m so sorry if you have emailed an not heard back from me. I wish there were more hours in the day. I really want to focus more on creating projects because that is my passion.
And so — I’ve decided it’s time to hire some help!

I’m looking for a part-time β€˜virtual’ assistant. I need someone to help me with my Weekend Wrap Up Parties which are averaging 800 link ups each week. As well as someone to help coordinate guest posts and coordinate advertising — about 10 hours a week. At least half of this time would require working on the weekends – I just wanted to put that out there πŸ™‚
Requirements and Duties:
Strong knowledge of blogging and social media
Experience with Photoshop, a plus but not required
Demonstrate good work ethic, must be trustworthy, and self motivated
Ability to meet deadlines
Detail oriented
Excellent communication and follow up skills
Available throughout the day to check emails and answer questions.
I would love to hire someone that has a blog and knows WordPress.
β€”
I am so excited to have someone join me in this wonderful journey.
Please send me your resume and if you have a blog, include a link!

Keeping it Real — Last, Last Minute Neighbor Gift Idea {w/printable}

24 Dec
You know those Tiny Bunting Dish Towels that I made? I really wanted to get enough done for neighbor gifts, but ran out of time…
I have great neighbors and wanted to give them something cute. And I waited til the last minute so I needed something easy to put together. I found some great $1 cookie cutters at Sur La Table, a bottle of Dollar Store sprinkles and a package of Cookie Dough Mix. And I tied it up with a little tag and some baker’s twine.
If you’re running behind like me, here’s the printable in case you want to make a few up!!

These also make an easy last minute gift to have on hand or a hostess gift this Christmas week.
Also — here’s another fun idea. Grab a package of recipe cards from Michael’s and print up this cute little saying. My neighbor Lynette brought this one by.
Happy Christmas Eve!!
Thanks for being such wonderful bloggy friends!!
xoxo

Keeping It Real — putting yourself out there

18 Apr
I was going to recap a few more projects from the Weekend Wrap Up Party, but I am feeling a little low and I thought I would keep it real and share some thoughts that are going through my head right now.
I blog because it brings a lot of joy to my life. I love working on projects and meeting new people. But it also brings pressure and insecurities, at least for me. I am a real person and have real feelings, as do you.
I just got another hateful comment. Since the last one I received, I made it so that people could not post “anonymous” comments on my blog. Well, this person posted her comment from her blog. I went over there and there were some of my projects with all sorts of hateful commentary.
I don’t expect everyone to love my projects, or even like them. We all have our own tastes and personalities. If I find something that isn’t to my taste, I just click away. But I would NEVER post someone else’s projects on my blog and put them down — make fun of them for being a mom and ridicule them in general.
I know you probably feel this way too — when I make something I kind of feel like I put myself out there. It is hard for me to do. I am a quiet, shy person and it is hard to expose myself. Each time I post something, I have to take a deep breath and let it go.
This type of thing really makes me take a step back and think things through. Is it worth it?
I would love to hear your thoughts on how you have dealt with negative or hurtful comments. And is there anything we can do to help turn the blogging world into a more positive, supportive place?
Thank you.
XOXO

Random Monday Thoughts and a Question

1 Mar
How’s your Monday going? I have a quick question for you. Do you like to read?

I am leaving on my “Secret Location” trip in 4 days. I am looking for some good books to take on my trip. What is your favorite book and why?

Mine is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I am re-reading it right now for the eighth time. So good – I wish they would make it into a movie!!

If you find some typos in this post, it’s because I am having the hardest time typing today. I managed to gouge a huge hole in my finger last night with a pair of scissors. Can you believe that??? I was working on my project for tomorrow and was pushing the open scissors through some tough material and it sliced right through my finger. Owww. If it stops bleeding, you don’t need stitches, right?

And speaking of scissors, I walked in on Ella giving her bangs a trim this morning. Now they’re about 1 inch long. But only half are, since I interrupted her. I thought she was my only girl who wasn’t going to try that – lol!

And, come over to enter the A=Mc2 Headband Giveaway! There will be THREE winners this week!

Thanks for the book suggestions!
XOXO

Keeping It Real, Losing It — and Lost

3 Feb
I thought it might be high time for a Keeping It Real update. Just so you know that my life isn’t all about keeping my house clean and crafting the day away πŸ™‚
My oldest daughter is 13. For a few weeks this daughter had been complaining about her knee hurting. In my defense, this daughter regularly goes around with some part of her body bandaged up most of the time because she thinks she has some mysterious ailment.
Well the other day she is complaining about this ailment and I feel it. I discover that yes, there is something there. A pretty large, hard bump. So I make an appointment with the pediatrician.
On Friday we have the appointment. I am expecting the pediatrician to tell her to put some ice on it or just send us home. Noooo, he looks at it and brings in another doctor, then another doctor and they all feel the lump. Then they go out in the hall and confer for a few minutes. He comes back in and tells us that we need to get an MRI ASAP and that he is very “concerned”. I start getting nervous at this point. Then the doctor asks for my cell number and tells me he is going to call me that night. ooookay….
About half an hour later he calls and tells me that he didn’t want to say anything in front of my daughter, but he is very concerned that the lump could be CANCER and then mentions SARCOMA. So I spent the weekend crying, freaking out and researching bone cancer — which is not a pleasant cancer to get, as you might imagine…
Well we had the MRI yesterday morning and found out around noon that it is not cancer — thank goodness!!! It is some sort of “bony growth” which will need to be removed, but pretty much the best possible outcome.
And due to all of this drama, I didn’t get very much accomplished this weekend. I had all kinds of ideas of projects that I wanted to do, but just couldn’t concentrate.
I am sure there are many of you who have gone through something similar, and I thought I would share just to keep it real. This is life. Life can get messy. Those of you who are friends with me on FaceBook know about this drama, and I wanted to say thank you to everyone who was praying for us! It meant so much to me to know that I have such love and support from my friends!!!!
And if any of you have some advice on how to deal with a 13-year-old daughter, I would love to hear it!
And now on to Lost. Does anyone know what is going on with this show? I was a huge fan a couple of years ago, but I don’t remember what’s going on now! I found these synopsis’s on YouTube:

or a this funnier recap:
I have a few projects I am trying to finish.
Hopefully I will have one ready tomorrow!
Have a great night!

A little family time and keeping it real!

16 Dec
Thanks again everyone for coming by the Homemade Gift Ideas linky party. When I said I would guest post for Simply Sweet Home I had no idea a linky party was involved. When I found out, all of my junior high school insecurities came out and I was afraid noone would want to come over and participate. Thank you for coming by! I think it’s so fun to come together, share ideas and encourage each other. And if you still want to link up, the party is open until Friday night!

I started blogging as a way to connect with other people and share creative ideas. I had no idea how much fun it would be or how many wonderful people I would meet. You guys are the nicest, most encouraging, sweet people and you are truly a blessing in my life!
This month has gone by at lightning speed! Seriously, how can there only be 10 DAYS LEFT??? I was starting to freak out just a little yesterday when my Ella was home sick with the stomach flu. So much for my plans to get some Christmas shopping done. She is much better today and I did manage to make it to Target to get some **_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ** things — my kids might read this post πŸ™‚
I have been feeling so neglectful as a mom lately because everywhere I look there are posts of families doing the funnest activities with their kids — making cookies, Christmas crafts, gingerbread houses, riding on Polar Express trains…. So, although I really had a bunch of Christmas projects I wanted to do, I really need to spend time with the people in my life that mean the most. So for the next week I will be posting family time advent activities. I hope you are all enjoying this festive season and spending time with your families and the people that mean so much to you! Embrace them and enjoy every moment with the ones you love!
And I always feel kind of weird posting pictures of my home for the homes tours. It is fun to take pictures of all of the festive decorations and I LOVE visiting everyone else’s blogs to see their fun ideas and decorations, but I don’t want to come across as a “perfect” person. Because, let’s face it, none of us are perfect or have model-home houses every single moment.
I have four kids and my home is hardly ever in perfect shape! For example, someone put something hot on the back of one of my barstools and all of the paint is peeling off.

My office is a wreck and probably always will be πŸ™‚ And I hate doing laundry, so my laundry room is always a mess with piles of dirty clothes everywhere.
So I want to keep it real, and maybe seeing my messy house will brighten up your day just a little bit πŸ™‚
And, there are still some really great events going on in the blogging world. Heidi from Blue Eyed Blessings one of the sweetest people out there, is hosting the next Holly Bloggy Event. A linky party featuring Christmas Crafts. This would be a great place to go find some fun projects to do with your kiddos – I know I am going to check it out.
And, the wonderful Project 320 is raffling off oportunities to win fantastic handmade items right now! The event ends on Friday! All proceeds go to build a well in Africa.
Have a wonderful day.
Enjoy every moment!
XOXO
