Happy Thursday!!
We are still enjoying Spring Break at The Happiest Place on Earth, but in the meantime, I have a super talented guest who is sharing a beautiful tutorial today!
I’d love to introduce you to Katy from Lil’ Alice.
Katy inherited a sewing machine from her beloved grandma Alice and taught herself how to sew. Now she has a beautiful shop and makes all sorts of awesome creations.
And, today she is sharing her Medium Zippered Pouch Tutorial with us!!

Medium Zippered Pouch Tutorial
Supplies
~ 7 inch zipper
~ 2 – 2×3 pieces of material
~ 2 – 9×6 canvas/duck cloth weight material (outer layer)
~ 2 – 9×6 cotton material (lining)
~ thread
~ zipper foot

On the
duck cloth (outer layer), fold over the top ¼ inch and press.  Do this on both pieces & set aside.
On the
2×3 pieces of material, fold and press the ends on the 2 inch side.  Then fold in half and press.

Take
your 7 inch zipper and pin the 2×3 pieces to the ends of the zipper &
sew on.  This tab adds a very nice
finished look to the bag.

Next,
take one piece of your lining and lay the zipper about ¼ inch from the top
& sew.

With
the 2nd piece of lining do the same thing and sew.

After
you have sewn on the lining, take 1 piece of the duck cloth (outer
layer).  Pin it and sew.

Lay
your layers of fabric so they are all on one side of the zipper, this will
prevent you from sewing all the layers together & having a mess on
your hands.

Take
the next piece of duck cloth & line it on the other side of the zipper
& sew.

Lay
the project on ironing board and press around the zipper so they are nice
and pressed.

Unzip your zipper (very important step)!

Fold matching fabrics together to sew the
pouch close.

Fold
the tabs up towards the duck cloth & pin.

Pin
the edges together & sew.

You
will sew a “u” starting with one side of the lining.

Fold
the lining and press.

Turn
right side out & push the tabs on the zipper out.

Sew
the lining closed, tuck into place.

Give a
nice press when finished.
Add a
flower or embellishment for added fun!

Thanks Katy – your pouches are so cute!!

And what a cute project to make as a Mother’s Day gift or a birthday gift!!
Katy also has a fun blog, also called Lil’ Alice where she shares giveaways, new products in her shop and other ideas:
And, be sure to check out Lil’ Alice for beautiful items like her zippered pouches, as well as hair pins, diaper wipe wristlets, aprons, and more!!

And if you don’t have the time or skill to sew up a cute Mother’s Day gift this year, head over to Katy’s shop for something handmade and special for your mom or daughter!!
PS — Come check out my Chevron Etched Glasses and Pitcher over at I Heart Naptime later today. And enter to win the etching cream so you can make YOUR own creations!!! And see the other fun Silhouette projects being shared. I love all of these ideas!!
