Favorite Thing Wednesdays: dreamy window displays

5 May

What inspires you creatively? For me it can be a glossy magazine spread, my family, an HGTV show, or especially the beauty of nature. One company that really has inspirational, creative ideas is Anthropologie. I love their dreamy window displays.

And speaking of dreams, remember the outfit that I mentioned in the Friend Makin’ Monday: a girl can dream??

Well, I was in Anthropologie a few weeks ago dreaming, and I found THE SHOES in a clearance section. Regularly $170, mine for $29.00!I hope you have an inspired day!

Trendy Tuesdays: My Top Spring Jacket Picks

7 Apr

Don’t you love Spring? I don’t know about you, but when it starts to get warm I want to get all of my summer clothes out and start wearing them. Of course, then it snows and I’m stuck in my winter clothes for another 2 months. Right now I am so sick of everything in my wardrobe. I want to wear flip flops! So, if you are looking for a way to bring some Spring sunshine into your wardrobe, how about a Spring jacket? Here are my top picks:

{Kohl’s Axcess Anorek: $21.00}
{Kohls, Elle Short Parka in Curry: $50}
Which one would you pick??

Favorite Thing Wednesday: Is it Spring yet???

5 Feb

I don’t know about you, but for me Winter seems to drag on forever! I think we had a snow day last year in April! Maybe I am feeling fidgety because of my trip last week, but I am ready for some warm weather.

Which brings me to my Favorite Thing for this week. I saw these at Target and I just couldn’t pass them up! And for $20 it gives me the hope that someday I will be wearing these babies, sitting on a lounge chair, sipping a cool lemonade. Hey, I can dream, can’t I?
{I love the cork wedge heel, the tan color and the fun circle shapes with the light stitching!}

{I love these because (again) the wedge heel and the color which is a really pretty red with a blueish undertone }

And now for my Un-Favorite-ist Thing:
If you remember my post a couple days ago about the toilet paper, you might appreciate this evidence I found this morning:

{Ella — “Mom, there’s no toilet paper!” Hmmm…..}{When I go in to investigate, there is a roll of unwrapped toilet paper on the table right next to the toilet... not actually on the roll.}

Also, I spent my afternoon putting together the project for Ella’s room and my Pay It Forward giveaway prizes. They are coming along and I can’t wait to show them to you on Friday!

Have a Super Day!

Decorating Question…..

1 Feb

Last night I dragged my family to IKEA. They were hoping for some tasty swedish meatballs. (We did reward ourselves later with:)

I love IKEA! My favorite part is walking through the fully equipped living spaces — 235 feet, 542 feet… It’s so cool. It makes me imagine myself living in a little place in New York City or a bustling European country. Of course the reality of living in 542 feet with a husband, 4 kids and a dog would last about 30 minutes. But still….

I was gathering supplies for a little project I am working on for Ella’s room. I will share it with you on Friday (if I can get it done). But on to my question:

Every time we are at IKEA I see this:
And, I WANT IT! I think it would be great to put in the basement for the kids to swing around on while they are stuck inside during the cold, frigid months. Or I could use one of these?

My hubbys says: no way! What do you think?

Would it be a “Good Thing”?
Have a great weekend! I hope you are doing something fun!

PS – My sister Wenderful was featured here this week for her blog post “Someday”! Yay!

Favorite Thing Wednesday: What’s in Your Get-Away Bag?

14 Jan

If you were going away for a week in the sun without the kids, what would be in your get-away bag?

For me, I would take:

{I have been obsessed with this lip gloss for about 4 years. I have one in my car, one in my purse, another stashed away in one of my kitchen cabinets and another in my bathroom. I love that it is glossy, but not gummy, and has a good kick of color.}

{Neutrogena sunblock is the only one that I have been able to use on my face without breaking out. I like that it is sheer, dries quickly, is water-proof and has a high SPF.}
{I just discovered this eyeshadow kit at Target a couple of months ago. It’s by a brand called Pixi. I love it because the colors are neutral but fresh, it has a bit of sparkle to brighten up the eye area and the brush makes it really easy to apply. I haven’t tried any of the other products in this line, but they all are packaged so cute and look really nice.}

Cute suit is from ModBe Clothing.

Breezy coverup.
Cute beachbag.These sandals are at from The Gap.

What would you bring?

Thrifty Tuesdays: DSW Datenight Deals

13 Jan

What did you do over the weekend? Jeff and I went on a date night…. to DSW. (disclaimer: we did go to a very delicious dinner first).

If you’ve ever been in a DSW you know how the store works. Each shoe in the store has a colored label. The color of the label means a different percentage off the price. Red = 30%, etc. So once in the store, you took the percentage off, based on the sticker, THEN, took another 40% off and THEN another 70% off that total. So basically, nothing in the store was more than $15. And these were brand name shoes! Such a difference from Payless (which is where I usually shop) lol.

Here are my bargains:

The receipt is so funny. We bought 7 pair of shoes (3 for my daughter), we spent $68 and it says we saved $550.00!!!

(Remember those fabulous shoes I got for my birthday? Well, I ended up sending them back and now I ended up with 7 pairs for half the price of the first pair!)

Craaazy!
Have a Thrifty Tuesday!
