My LA/New Moon Giveaway!

16 Nov
I had a wonderful trip in the sun. It was in the 70’s there! So I was in for a big shock when I got off the plane tonight and the temperature reading was 30-degrees. Brrrrr…. Well, I looked around for some fun Southern California things to giveaway, but got a little sidetracked.
It seemed like everywhere I looked there were New Moon posters in L.A. And then, yesterday we went to The Grove in Beverly Hills and there was this huge mob of people and tons of papparazzi milling around.
I decided to hang out and see what would happen. About 1/2 hour later Janet Jackson’s Rythym Nation started and 600 dancers came out doing her dance. And then the next thing I knew, she came out right above where I was standing! Now, I’m not a huge Janet fan, but it was pretty fun to be there right in the middle of it all!
Then, we went into the Nordstrom there and they were having a big New Moon photo shoot for Seventeen Magazine. With Sprinkles!!! I took that as a sign that maybe I need to have a New Moon giveaway — since the L.A. premiere is tomorrow night!
So I picked up a really cute New Moon shirt, a New Moon cup, a New Moon magazine and (9) New Moon tattoos. And then we went to a great flea market where I found some earrings made by a local L.A. artist that I think goes really well with the t-shirt! And of course I had to stop by Trader Joe’s for one of my favorite things — Pumpernickle Pretzels. And since they are my latest addiction, I think they should be yours too! So I am throwing in a bag with the giveaway.
Ok, I want to get this shirt out to the winner so they can wear it to see New Moon, so this is going to be a quick giveaway! It will end — Wednesday night at midnight and then I will get it in the mail on Thursday! If you would like to be entered:
  • leave me a comment
  • all of my followers will get an additional entry — just because I love you!
  • and if you want three entries, blog or twitter about the giveaway and leave me an additional comment
  • good luck!!!
Also, anyone that is in the Salt Lake area, there is a great boutique on Tuesday. I will be there with my burlap magnet boards, decoupaged stars, jumbo clothespins and pillows. Plus tons of other great holiday gifts — here are the details!

Have a Wonderful Day!

Favorite Thing Wednesdays: Twilight Party!!!

25 Mar
We had our Twilight Party Saturday night.
It was so fun!

(I saw a take on this centerpiece at this blog)

  • Twilight Edward figure (thanks Jeff!)
  • Twilight posters
  • Twilight books on the mantle
  • We printed Twilight pictures off the internet and hung them around the room
  • Made a centerpiece out of a big tree branch that we spray painted white
  • Decorated the tree with apple die cuts (but apple ornaments would be cute too)
  • Printed out pictures of the Cullen family and put them in black frames
  • Used various heart decorations
  • Found red and black candies and put them around the room in bowls (black licorice, red hots, hot tamale candies)
  • We played the movie soundtrack while everyone came in

  • Vampire Bite cupcakes
  • Chocolate cupcakes with purple sprinkles
  • Water bottles with Twilight labels
  • Veggie tray (because the Cullens are “vegetarians”)
  • Apple slices with caramel dipping sauce
  • Homemade popcorn with red hots (in individual bags)
  • Red licorice ropes

We also had a hard Twilight game (let me know if you would like a copy) and a prize for the winner. We also had a booby prize for the person who got the least amount right.

{Jeff’s aunt won the booby prize!}

This is my friend who did the party with me. (isn’t she cute?)
She made the fabulous cupcakes.
Have a Wonderful Wednesday!
PS – UPDATE: A wonderful blog called Maggie’s Dinner Dates is featuring the party on her blog. She has the funnest entertaining ideas. You should go over and see all of her great ideas. Thanks so much!!!

Creative Fridays and Twilight

22 Nov

I’m running a little slow today. I took my two oldest kids to see the Twilight movie at midnight last night. The theater we saw it at had all 12 screens showing the movie at midnight and it was PACKED. When the main characters came onscreen the entire audience cheered and whistled. We had a fun time. I had really low expectations of the movie going in because I generally don’t like movies based on books that I have read. I have to say the movie exceeded my expectations and I ended up really enjoying it.

The kids had school this morning and were good sports to get up at 6:30 after only getting about 3 1/2 hours of sleep! SO if you enjoy a love story, a little action and some beautiful people, go see the Twilight movie.

I am in the middle of painting my office a chartreuse green. I haven’t decided if I love it or hate it. So we’ll see about that tomorrow.

One of my favorite designers is Heather Bailey. She is a very talented, creative girl. She makes everything from paper crafts and fabric to hair accessories. This year she has created the cutest retro paper pinwheels that you can download from her website and make for decorations this Holiday season.
