Giveaway Monday — Custom Name Sign from Everyday Lettering!!

15 Aug

 Update — giveaway closed. Winner is #217 Danyelle.

{{Happy Monday}}

Welcome to Giveaway Monday.
This week’s giveaway is from — Everyday Lettering!
Everyday Lettering is a fun shop run by Heather — a mom to a fantastic 2-year old boy and an avid photographer. In addition to her photography, Heather makes custom name art using her own photos of everyday items that spell out letters.

The thing I love about Heather’s shop is that each letter has several different versions you can choose from, so there are so many ways your word can look.

I had to experiment and see what my name would look like:

It would be so cute in my Craft Room!!

I love the beautiful pictures that make up Heather’s creations! And I love that her art is affordable.
There are also THREE different ways you can get your word made:

 1. THE BLOCK:

This option features each picture in your word/name on an individual block.
Each block measures approximately 5.5 inches high X 3.5 inches wide X 1.5 inches deep.

 2. THE BOARD:

This option features your entire word/name together on a single board.
The piece measures 5.5 inches high X 1.5 inches deep and just over 3 inches wide per letter.
3. THE SINGLE:
For
this option you are ordering just the photographic prints of the
letters you choose for your word/name. Then you can do what you want
with them.
You
could get your word/name custom framed or possibly find a frame with the
correct number of openings in a store. Frame them individually or in
some cute vintage frames. The sky is the limit.
You can order in either 3.5X5, 4X6, or 5X7-inch prints.

 Heather is giving away a One Word/Name
{your choice of name and style}
You can also like Everyday Lettering on Facebook — where you can find out about Heather’s new items, sales and giveaways.
What a great gift idea!!

Here’s how YOU can win:

  • Share this giveaway on Twitter, Facebook or your blog. one entry each.
Good Luck!
This giveaway ends Monday, Aug. 22nd.

Have a SUPER day!!!

xoxo

Great Ideas — Typography Projects {1}

18 Jun
Hey all you TT&J-ers out there!
I’m just doing some blog-sitting this weekend while Jen’s off enjoying her London adventure.  {Are you as jealous as I am?}

My 3 Monsters is my humble little on-line abode where I blog about fixing up my humble little real-life abode, my crafty endeavors, and the challenges and joys of raising three super-fun {and a little bit wacky}kids with my BFF husband.  I also sell cupcakes with my 13 year old daughter, paint murals, and run an Etsy shop called Suburban graffiti.

I’m a long-time fan of the Weekend Wrap-Up Party, so I am honored to have this opportunity to spotlight some of my favorite this week.

I love words and meaningful quotes and typography in any form.  My family laughs sometimes that all we have are words on our walls, not pictures.  I just can’t help myself!

Look at all these lovelies this week:

I adore these kitchen towel pillows from The 36th Avenue.  The color combination, the sentiment . . . perfection.  These are going straight to the top of my “must-make” list.
This vacation memories keepsake frame from Echoes of Laughter is stunning.  Love that quote in there.
Love this beachy-chic DIY wall art from Love of Family and Home.

Beautiful inspirational printable from Taidye Original.
I told you I was a fan of typography, didn’t I?  This summer sign from Once Upon a {Craft} Time is cute as can be!
Even the printing on the selvedge edge of fabric can be pretty cool.  Check out this awesome bag from Diary of a Crafty Lady.

This cereal specimen chart from Simple Simon & Company made me laugh out loud.  This would be  real conversation piece in our home!
This sentimental Father’s Day gift from Something Created Every Day is really touching.  {Do I still have time to whip one up?!?}
Fun outdoor chair makeover with burlap coffee sacks at Megan Brooke Handmade.
I’m loving the look of this old window makeover at Crafty, Scrappy, Happy right now.  The meaningful quote, the shells printed on book pages, the chippy old table . . . *sigh* . . . Too lovely.
Here’s another goody from Crafty, Scrappy, Happy.  She’s cornering the market on sentimental, inspirational typography this week.  The story of this picture got me a little bit choked up.  Beautiful.
My heart went pitter-patter when I saw this chalkboard project from Charcoal and Crayons.  Stencils.  On a chalkboard.  Genius!
You can even “typogrify” your baby.  How fun are these onesies from Craftinated?!
Pretty ruffled and rosette-ed Welcome pillow from The Little Things.
This Proverbs printable over at Wool & Flax . . . and other Beeswax is ever-so classy.
And how about this keyboard clutch from See Kate Sew?  Too cute for words!
Whew – I don’t know how Jen does this every weekend!  There are soooo many awesome projects linked up, it was almost impossible to narrow them down.  I’m feeling really lucky that I get to post some more of my favorites tomorrow, because there are a ton more out there that I love.  Have a great Saturday, folks!

And be sure to come over and link up YOUR ideas for a chance to win ANYTHING from ModBe Clothing!!

Thanks Amy!!
Be sure and check out My 3 Monsters — you will love it!!
I’m about to get on a plane to London.
Have a Happy Saturday!!

Guest Project — Make DIY Typography Wall Art {tutorial}

18 May

Hi Tatertots and Jello!
 I am Lindsay
editor of the blog, Lee La La.
I am delighted to be here with you all today!
This is me:

If you stop by my blog,
I am sure to be talking about being the momma to this little girl,
The wife to this handsome,
or all things in between.

I am a domestic work in progress, learning the ropes of Mommy hood one day at a time.
Today is a big day for me as I get the HONOR of guest posting at Jen’s blog.
Jen is celebrity status for me….
So, THANK YOU for having me!
Because I have a CRUSH on home decor,
today I am going to share with you a DIY typography project that I recently made for my home.
{PSST, it’s SUPER easy}
Let’s begin, shall we?

2 pieces of 12″x24″ ply wood
black paint
white paint
large paint brush for the black paint
small brush for the letters
120 grit sand paper
stencils
pencil
saw tooth hooks
1. First, you are going to paint 2 coats of black paint onto both pieces of ply wood. I painted the sides as well at this point. Let dry completely.
2. Next, you will lay out your stencils how you want them to read on your print.
Begin tracing with your pencil.
I let the letters over lap and run off the edges for a more vintage feel.
3.Once your wording is laid out properly, you will begin painting.
I freehanded my letters, but you could also skip the pencil step and paint directly from the stencil. I’ve done both, and I found free handing turns out cleaner.
Note: Your painting does not have to be perfect because the sanding step will hide all imperfections.

Once your letters are painted, let dry completely.
4.
Using your sandpaper, you will now sand over your entire print.
I sanded all corners and edges, as well as accented certain areas until the original wood color or the paint color underneath shows thru. This gives your print a rugged aged touch.

5.
I added saw tooth hangers on the back of each piece and hung one beneath the other.
There you have it!

I love the way it looks with my photo gallery.
I’ve made this print in various colors as well as different sayings.
How cute is this one I made for a bride-to-be friend of mine?

Thank you SO much for hanging with me today.
I’d be so excited if you stopped by my blog and said hello.
Meeting new friends makes me happy!
