Guest Project — Four Last Minute Valentine Ideas!!

6 Feb
j
Hello
Crafty readers @ Tatertots and Jello!
I am Hani, from Craftionary
I have a wonderful Husband whom I’m married for 2 years and together we have
the most adorable bundle of joy; our baby boy
I love to craft and enjoy other people’s wonderful ideas too. Just keeping things organized and
knowing my own creativity; led me to blogging. Since my boy is young and hyper active
I work on projects that are safe, as he grows so will we grow @ Craftionary

Thanks Jen for having me here, I am so excited to share a few last minute valentine
gift ideas that make it all special and charming. So, lets get started

1
CANDLES WITH LOVE
  • Just as I saw these simple candles; an idea struck me and I suddenly bought them. I searched for romantic and love quotes on Google and
found one wonderful quote that well suited my candles. I then simply
printed and transferred the quote to each candle with vinyl sheet and
there don’t they look lovely now? : )
  • These candles are a very romantic gift for Valentine’s Day.

2
MAGNET-HEARTS
  • I wanted to make a magnet for quite a long time and it just suddenly happened that on my last visit to Wal-Mart
I just randomly bought magnets. Now I was surfing through my stuff and
thought of making something with foam and there the magnet heart came to
    my mind.
  • This is the simplest thing to make. Just
cut and glue the stack of hearts together. You can use any color and any
number of hearts depending upon how thick you want it. I used 3 hearts.
Then glue the magnet and beads on the back and front and leave it to
dry. I used white glue as it dries transparent.
  • I made 2 hearts. One saying “I love you” and the other has our names on it. Both the hearts look great together. : )
3
HEART-MARK
  • Make an
easy and instant bookmark for your book worm Valentine. A bookmark is
something that will last forever if your valentine loves to read books.
Whenever he/she will be reading a book, the bookmark will remind them of
    you.
  • Draw a template on a piece of paper like
the one on the right and cut it. Now trace the half piece on both sides.
In this way you will have equal sides.
  • Now cut some hearts from a
patterned paper and glue them over. You can use hearts and red color
papers. There is a whole lot of paper variety to choose from everywhere
    these days.
  • Make a simple braid three parts with colors of your choice. I have
used red, orange and off-white. Punch a hole at the top of the bookmark
    and pass it through.
  • Finally make boundaries using thread in the shape of hearts and your bookmark is ready. Give your heart-mark on Valentines. : )
4
EXPRESS WITH LOVE TAGS

  • Finally the greeting card that is
made with love tags. Cut cards into any shape you like. Here I have cut
black and red cards into tag shape. Cut a pattern that you like from a
paper and glue it over the card.
  • For the out-line use golden ribbon and glue it at the back of the tags to reveal just a thin layer.

  • I crafted the “L” with buttons, the “O” thread and hearts inside, “V” with nylon net ( just cut scraps of nylon net and glue the ends to the card, the shape will automatically be formed) and “E” is simply card that is glued over.
  • A complete buttoned card looks like this. If you wanna give it a try.
  • Finally decorate it with ribbon flowers, cut-out hearts, buttons and any accessory you like.
  • Glue the tags over the greeting card.
  • Here are two different looks of the Tag-Card. Which one do you like better? : )
  • Finally
write all that you want inside; it would be a great idea to write your
journey with him in the form of a poem, or a quote that defines your
    relationship.
Hope you had fun with me and these simple last minute ideas for Valentine’s Day.
Have an awesome week!
Thanks Jen

Guest Project — Make a Valentine Tree of Love!!

3 Feb

Hello Everyone!

I am Angie from Echoes of Laughter …a stay-at-home mom of 2 who loves crafting!

I want to thank Jenn for the pleasure and honour of being a guest here on Tatertots and Jello.
I am just super peachy happy to be able to share this with you!
Here is a tutorial for a very simple ‘tree of love’
for Valentine’s Day.
♥

I had 3 goals for this project.
I wanted to make something pretty,
 something affordable,
and something that could be made in under an hour….
because we are all busy women with so much to do!
For this project, you will need:
a small flower pot or bowl
a block of floral foam
some branches about 12″ to 14″ high
 {I snapped these brances from a tree in my yard…when it is -30 outside…it sure is easy to snap something!}
black letter stickers
cinnamon hearts
white school glue
miniature clothespins
and
A handful of pictures.
I chose these mini portrait pictures of my children where they were little.
  • First add the word ‘love’ with the black letter stickers to the pot.
  • Cut floral foam to fit inside the pot.{I just cut the foam with a steak knife.}
  • Insert the branches to make the ‘tree’.
  • Next, use white school glue to glue the cinnamon hearts to the base of the tree to cover the floral foam.
  • Let dry for a few minutes.
  • Next, trim and mat the small pictures with white cardstock and embellish as desired. I used dollar store Valentine stickers I already had in my stash of supplies. I also found adorable red mini clothespins at the dollar store. But plain mini clothespins would work as well, or ribbon.
  •  Then pin your decorated photos to the branches.
Now enjoy a wonderful centerpiece for your table…
or a sweet decoration for your living room.
Wishing you all a terrific Valentine’s day with those near and dear to you!
I hope you take joy in whatever it is that you create!!
Angie xo

Thanks Angie — what a sweet idea!!

Angie has all sorts of great ideas over at Echoes of Laughter:

Have a Terrific Day!!

Guest Project — "Love Juice" Valentine’s Day Gift Idea {with free printable}!!

2 Feb

Hi, I’m Kalleen from At Second Street.
I’m a mother of four who crafts to keep myself sane.
Valentines is one of my favorite holidays.  Not because I’m into all the lovey couple stuff. I have so many fond memories of making valentines boxes, delivering valentines, receiving gifts from cupid and the giant heart cookies my mom would make.
Since my kids can’t make boxes like I did, I’ve decided to help them make special valentines to give out to classmates. I was inspired to make Love Juice packets one day when my kids were begging me to have some of my Crystal Light.

There is something magical about mixing some up.
And they are delicious.
What I used:
  • a bottle of water
  • Hawaiian punch singles ($1 for a pack of 8 at Walmart)
  • a roll of heart wrapping paper (from targets $1 bins), scrapbook paper will work too.
  • avery file folder labels #48366
  • card stock for heart labels
  • ribbon
  • paper straws
  • tape
First remove water bottle label and replace with a 2″ strip of wrapping paper. I taped mine in place.
Print heart labels on card-stock.
You can find them HERE. Make sure to print in the landscape setting. I cut and matted (optional) my label. Then taped it to the middle, front of bottle with double sided tape.
Next I applied my Love Juice label to the mix pouches.
You can print my labels HERE
***update– the link is now fixed!
*They are formatted to only print on Avery file folder labels #48366.
I punched a hole in the top of the pouch and strung a ribbon through it.  I tied a knot around the neck of the bottle keeping it loose enough that I could slide a straw through as well.
That’s it, they are ready to be delivered.
Thanks so much for sharing your day with me Jen.
You are one of my favorite people in blogland.

 Thanks Kalleen!!

That is absolutely adorable — just like everything you do.
